A free form piece about what happens when two lovers turn on each other. Purely speculative in nature.

There in the mist that separated us was our enemy, Silence. It had crept between us and now removed all hope of contact, surrounding us like a shroud. There was no avenue of escape. Only a hopeless, senseless, violent attack on the silence that alienated us. Lit by misunderstanding and fanned by a fear of betrayal, panic now ran rampant in our hearts. We struck out with words of hate, mistrust, hurt, and ignorance. We knew not that we had brought about our own end, but blamed it on the other. Our words spoken, the mist fading with the coming day, we parted. Leaving the love we had known strewn on the battlefield. Pierced by our anxieties, slashed by our paranoia, clubbed with our stupidity, and killed by our fears. Yesterday we had been lovers, but that was before the Battle of the Hearts.
