Surrounded by music
It plays on my ear.
My heart know each note, though
My ears cannot hear.Goin’ Pretty Far – © 1971

I’m sitting on the grass here
Wondering which way to go.
Should I turn around, go back
Or forward, I don’t know.

Sitting on the Highway
Waiting for a car.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.

Something happened recently
I don’t know what to think.
I’m on the edge of sanity
And teetering on the brink.
My hopes are all forsaken
As I sit here alone.
Should I keep trodding forward
Or try to go back home?

Goin’ down the Highway
Trying to catch a star.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.

I didn’t ‘spect she’d leave me
I really don’t know why.
There’s nothing here to keep here
It does no good to cry.
I guess I’ll just keep goin’
I s’pose I have to try.
To find whatever’s out there.
She didn’t say ‘Goodbye’.

Sitting on the Highway
Waitin’ for a car.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.
Goin’ down the Highway
Tryin’ to catch a star .
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far….
I’m goin’ pretty far.

Surrounded by beauty,
So why do I grieve?
My heart goes on wishing
It could but perceive.
The smells that surround me
Floating through the air
Going quite unnoticed
As though they weren’t there.
My nerves, once so active
Lie hidden inside.
My fingers feel nothing
It’s as if they died.
My mouth has gone tasteless
My lips have no chore.
I have no compulsion
To eat any more.

I long only. . .

To hear the music of your voice
To see the beauty of your face
To smell the fragrance of your hair
To feel the soft caress of your embrace
To taste the sweetness of your lips
To Live, loving you.
