Goin’ Pretty Far – © 1971 (Song)

This is kind of my attempt at a “Me and Bobby McGee” type song. I did a lot of hitch hiking back then.

Goin’ Pretty Far – © 1971

I’m sitting on the grass here
Wondering which way to go.
Should I turn around, go back
Or forward, I don’t know.

Sitting on the Highway
Waiting for a car.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.

Something happened recently
I don’t know what to think.
I’m on the edge of sanity
And teetering on the brink.
My hopes are all forsaken
As I sit here alone.
Should I keep trodding forward
Or try to go back home?

Goin’ down the Highway
Trying to catch a star.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.

I didn’t ‘spect she’d leave me
I really don’t know why.
There’s nothing here to keep here
It does no good to cry.
I guess I’ll just keep goin’
I s’pose I have to try.
To find whatever’s out there.
She didn’t say ‘Goodbye’.

Sitting on the Highway
Waitin’ for a car.
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.
Goin’ down the Highway
Tryin’ to catch a star .
Mister, won’t you gimme a ride?
I’m goin’ pretty far.
I’m goin’ pretty far.
