G. I. Ville

These were built to provide cheap housing for veterans on Campus. GI Ville was actually a row of long Quonset huts next to the Church. Each Quonset hut had 3 or 4 families living in it, each with their own entrances. Between every other Quonset hut (in the “back yard”) were incinerators for burning trash.

I slipped out there one time taking out the trash and cut a gash in my upper arm. It took 3 stitches. I can remember that when I cut it, it didn’t hurt. But when I saw the blood flowing, I freaked!
