A Sunny Afternoon Drive…

A Sunny Afternoon Drive…

Another drive with my daughter took us South of Shelbyville, TN along Hwy 130. It’s a nice peaceful drive with a couple scenic vistas. They are just hills, but the view is excellent…

And Kansas doesn’t have an exclusive on “rustic” bridges (although this one was someone’s private drive)

This picture is pretty worthless – the sun dipped behind the clouds just as I got ready to take the shot…

So, I stood there and waited for the sun to come back out so I could take another shot. I had dropped my daughter off down the road so she could take some shots (road had no shoulder) and I was killing time waiting for her to walk down to me…

Then this disgruntled older man came down from his house – and for the first time since I started taking pictures – he “ran me off” – yelling at me that “maybe you should consider asking permission before you start taking pictures” and that I needed to “get on outta here now”…

I’ve always made a point of respecting people’s property. I don’t cross yards, climb fences, or ignore any posted signs. I was parked alongside a public highway, standing next to a power pole, with my hand held camera. Despite my indignity, I apologized to the man and moved the car to the other side of the road, where I continued waiting for my daughter… There’s a first time for everything…

Moving on, we found this interesting house just South of Lynchburg, TN (home of Jack Daniels). This house appeared to be unoccupied, but well preserved. I wondered if the house had some association with the Jack Daniels property…

Next we crossed Tim’s Ford Reservoir… where the Normandy Reservoir had been Blue, Tims Ford had a definite Green color…

You know I love old buildings, and with the field of brilliant green grass, I couldn’t resist…

To get this shot of “the road less traveled” I had to “cheat”. It is HARD to find a road in Middle Tennessee that isn’t paved, but in the Park in Estill Springs,TN there is a short section of dirt “road” that leaves the pavement (even in the Park) for just a few yards to dip down near some picnic areas along the river…

Back in Tennessee…

Back in Tennessee I quickly sought out my favorite spot, Ledford Mill. Actually, it’s a small waterfall just down the road from the real Ledford Mill, but we just call it Ledford Mill anyway.

Yet another bad trip

You know, after all the trouble I’ve had with Moebile One (my 1978 Toyota) I decided to play it safe this time and take Greyhound to Tennessee to visit my kids. And I learned it is ME not my car that is the bad luck.

One Stop Photo Op

Just North of Tullahoma is the George Dickels Distillery, and just outside their fence is this beautiful spot. Congrats to the Dickel’s maintenance crew!

Tennessee Miscellaneous

A few interesting shots that didn’t have much in common with any other shots. Trees, cows, sheep, and an old barn. Some extra shots to share with you from my Tennessee trip.

Quick Trip to Tennessee

You ever have one of those trips? You know, the one where you are “just” going to make a “quick trip”… like a 3 hour tour on the S.S. Minnow?
